Thank you Mike Vomit for our awesome feature/interview on your blog!
INTERVIEW WITH STELLADEORA Q: Can you explain the name of your band? A: When brainstorming names for the band, we knew that we wanted something a bit feminine since we our a female fronted band, but we also wanted a unique one word name that stands out, right away. We found the name Stelladeora. The word comes from a rarely used alias of the Day Lily flower. Upon more research, we found that It also means Star of Gold. We really loved the meaning, so eventually we went with it. Q: Who is in the band? A: Justina Carubia (Vocals) , Avinash Patel (Guitar), Neil Brown (Bass), & Mike Lyon (Drums). Q: Where are you from? A: We are all from different towns in Central, New Jersey, Q: How would you describe your sound? A:Our sound definitely has some pop influence, but it also has a rock edge. I come from a singer/songwriter background, so writing pop hooks and melodies are what come naturally to me as a songwriter. Avi, our guitarist comes from a harder rock background, so he writes these really awesome guitar hooks and his rhythm is very percussive. Once the two of us joined forces , we started churning out these really awesome catchy , but in your face , powerful rock songs. I would also describe our sound as high energy! Q: How long have you been playing? A: We have been a band since 2009, but all of us in the band have been > doing music probably our whole lives! Q: What sets you apart from other bands? A: We are very one on one with all of our fans. It’s important to talk to your fans and get to know them. We respond to all the messages that we get on our twitter & facebook pages. Another thing is, I think we are extremely selective with the songs that we write. A lot of bands churn out EPs and singles like crazy just to get new material out. We really like to take our time to perfect the work that we present to our audience. Quality over quantity is our outlook, we want every single song to feel like it is our best. Also we started working on a concept to tie in with our music, that will be more evident in future albums! We want to draw our audience in more with a story. Q: Can you name a few influences? A: We draw from many different influences. As a vocalist I really admire Pat Benatar, Patty Smyth (Scandal), Ryan Hunter (Envy on the Coast) & Brandon Boyd (Incubus). Avi really admired the guitar styles of Michael Einziger (Incubus) while he was growing up. As a band and collaborators in creating our sound, we all draw from different bands such as Coheed & Cambria, Paramore, VersaEmerge, The Used, Periphery, No Doubt, 311, Radiohead, and again, Incubus & Envy on the Coast. Q: So far what would be your greatest achievement? A: Our greatest achievement so far, would be recording and releasing our first album as a band! Avi & I started writing these songs toward the end of the summer of 2009. These all started off as acoustic songs. To see them grow the way they have, as band members & producers came and left, Avi, Mike, and I still stuck by our project and made sure we saw it through to its completion. Sometimes we felt like we would never get this album out. Finishing up this EP on our own has forced us to become way more self sufficient as a band. That’s a very rewarding feeling! Q: What are your favorite musical memories? A: We played at Six Flags Great Adventure’s Live & Local Stage last summer, and afterward we got to ride all of the roller coasters together. It was probably the most fun we have ever had together as a band. Another one was watching Sam Oh lay down his cello tracks on “Goodbye August” in the studio. It was just a very emotional moment to watch everything all come together with live strings, it’s rare you get that luxury on a studio track. Q: In two years where do you see Stelladeora? A: Hopefully we will have established a large enough fan base to make a career out of music, and maybe another album or two :-) Q: Any new material? A: You can download our new digital album “A Dosage From Delusional” for FREE here: http://stelladeora.bandcamp.com/ Click Buy Now and enter $0 to DL for FREE or, you can name your price and donate however much you would like. All donations will go to getting physical copies of the album made. Everyone who has donated will get a signed CD sent to them! Q: Where can we find the band? A: We are EVERYWHERE! Thank you to our friend Vince over at ICO MEDIA for doing this little write-up on our new album! Check it out!
Stelladeora: A Dosage From Delusional By Vincent Inciong (music educator in Central Jersey) Stelladeora makes their EP debut releasing the offering, “A Dosage From Delusional”. With heart pumping drums, solid rhythmic guitar work, melodic bass lines, and blistering vocals, the rock in this EP is far from a delusion but rather a reality check that the indie music scene in New Jersey is about to make a big impact. Formed in South Plainfield, New Jersey by Justina Carubia (vocals) and Avinash Patel (guitar) in 2009, Stelladeora harnesses a heavy indie pop rock feel into each track. There is maturity in their music that can only be learned through passion, experience, and the hustle in the indie music scene. Every track has an aggressive, yet balanced, execution of melody, rhythm, harmonies, and skillful production – this album covers it all! Every emotion is captured and released from the heavy hitting, “Clockwork” to the classy, melodic, and texturally driven, “Goodbye August”. Nothing was held back in this EP. Having gone through two different producers, and ultimately finishing the EP on their own, “A Dosage From Delusional” is a labor of hard knocks silver lined with love and hope. With a concept element in tact, tied together with an included original comic strip, the creativity and talent runs deep in this quartet. The current line up of Justina Carubia (vocals), Avinash Patel (guitar), Neil Brown (bass), and Mike Lyon (drums) will be hitting the stage this August to promote “A Dosage From Delusional”. “A Dosage From Delusional” is available fromwww.stelladeora.bandcamp.com for FREE download. www.facebook.com/Stelladeora www.Stelladeora.com www.youtube.com/user/Stelladeora www.stelladeora.bandcamp.com (Source: facebook.com) Hey Fans!!
As some of you know, we have announced on our Facebook page, that we are planning to finally release our long awaited debut album, "A Dosage From Delusional", to the world, in just a few days! After much discussion between band members, we have decided to release the album in DIGITAL FORMAT ONLY , at this time. The reason for this being, we really honestly don’t have the funds to get all the CDs made up at this point in time. Reproduction Costs, and Shipping, & Distribution Packages alone, to go through a reputable artist friendly company, is more costly than one would think. This is why we are releasing the album THIS WAY…. We still wanted to give you guys the music you have waited almost a year for, so we decided to make this album available for FREE DIGITAL DOWNLOAD! That’s right, FREE! Although, we are also giving you theoption to pay whatever you feel our music is worth to you! If you would like, you may leave a donation of whatever sum of money you think we deserve for all of our hard work in bringing this music to you once and for all! With the donations we receive from our digital album downloads (if we make enough), we will make a small run of hard copies of the album and every person who donated will get a signed CD mailed to them! Every little bit helps… We love all of you guys for your continued support throughout this crazy album-making process. We could never do it without fans/friends/family like you! We hope you enjoy the music… finally! We got this far waiting for it.. What’s a few more days!??! Justina, Avi, Mike, & Neil |
