HEY FANS!
We would like to announce that our music video for our rendition of Mexican Folk Song "La Llorona" was selected to screen at the Skiptown Playhouse International Film Festival in Los Angeles, California, this October! Skiptown International Film Festival is a new festival that specializes in low (under 5 million budget) independent films with great potential for the world wide market. It is a great outlet for filmmakers from all over the world to showcase their work and be seen by distributors, producers, and other industry professionals working in Hollywood. And what better place to be located, than Hollywood itself! The festival is run by the owner of Skiptown Productions, Vincenzo Carubia who also works in acquisitions for Princ Films. This festival is a great opportunity for filmmakers to have their work seen and showcased to industry professionals who have the potential to distribute their work at the major film markets around the world aka international sales distribution. This intimate theater is known for it's comfy chairs, red curtains, and warm ambiance that is created by the owners Vincenzo, Anny, and Michelle. Opening in February of 2018, the theater quickly grew a following in the comedy community in Hollywood and started growing a following for it's film screenings as well through Blackout Cinema (a local film group). Now Skiptown decided to grow it's adventure by creating a week long film festival event with opening / closing night parties, as well as red carpet photos, guest speakers, panels, and a carefully selected variety of shorts / features, and more. The festival will take place this October 23-29, 2019. You can find more information about the film festival and the playhouse, please visit: https://www.skiptownplayhouse.com/film-festival

HEY FANS!! We're super stoked to be posting this!!! Dom, our fan from Michigan, hit us up on our youtube channel and upon checking out his drum covers, we wrote him back to compliment his amazing chops...He then excitedly expressed that he wanted to cover one of our songs!!! How cool is that??! Of course we were honored! So here we would like to present to you his cover of our original song "Relic" off our debut EP A Dosage From Delusional. He did a killer effing job, if we do say so ourselves... it's not an easy song, drum wise, but he killed it! Thanks Dom for digging our music, spreading the word about it, and taking the time to put this together :-) We super appreciate it <3 As a token of our appreciation, some cool Stella-D merch is coming your way! Much Love, Justina, Avi, Mike, Neil, & Steve Hey Stelladeora Fans! You might notice that we have given our website a bit of a remodel, since our days of tumblr, We just wanted to do a quick little update right here to say that we have a more elaborate and in depth update coming your way soon about our whereabouts in the past few years! We also want to give you some updates about the new music that has been in limbo, and we'll explain about that soon. We just wanted to pop in and say a quick hey, and let you know to be on the lookout for new news SOON... Justina and Avi Happy Spirit Season Everyone... Happy Halloween, Blessed Samhain and tomorrow is El Dia de los Muertos which is the Mexican Tradition of The Day of the Dead. All around, this time of the year is when the veil is at its thinnest, enabling the realms of both the living and the dead to overlap, making contact with loved ones who have crossed over, a bit more possible to achieve. In the following video, we spotlight the old Mexican folk tale of La Llorona, the weeping woman who drowned her children in the river because she was betrayed by her husband who had been unfaithful. Overcome with guilt, she then drowns herself. Little did she know, she would not be able to enter the afterlife because of her sins, so she is stuck wandering between the worlds of the living and the dead, crying and looking for her dead children for all eternity. We were going to film this last year, but just didn't have the time... luckily we still had our costumes from last year, to film it this year! Thanks to everyone who came through to help us with the filming! Avinash Patel and I had a vision, and you helped us see it through to fruition! Rafael Figueroa, Mary Sanchez, David, Lily, and Caro. And also Danny Lammi, Roy Carubia, and Dee-Dee Carubia for your support, either stopping by to hang out, or just enduring our noisy production and mess, bahahah. We are so excited with how amazing it all came out, thanks to you! We would like to bring you our rendition of the tale of "La Llorona". You can also download the audio file here and add to your mp3 players :-)
Love,
Justina & Avi Hey All...
Things seem to be at a stand still with our recording process right now, so I felt like I needed to be somewhat productive and write a new song. Hopefully one of these days, we can get around to recording with the full band sound because I'm hearing it sound super epic in my head. Ok, well anyway, enjoy! The lyrics are below ... -Justina "DON'T LET IT DIE" Written by Justina Carubia ©2016 Stelladeora VERSE 1 This isn't how I pictured our grand finale Another call, the curtain is up We've got another act to go Another song a delicate dance, Reviving our repose In the shadows for too long Now I can't let it go Don't let it die.... CHORUS Don't Let it Die Don't Let it Die Ooh ooh ooh ooh Cuz everyone's waiting The magic is fading And we only have tonight Don't let it die Yea yea... Don't let it die VERSE 2 So we haven't been aware That time's not on our side Despite how we've immortalized The thoughts that plagued our minds Another song we've written and Sent off into the night... In the shadows for too long We have to find our light... CHORUS Don't Let it Die Don't Let it Die Ooh ooh ooh ooh Cuz everyone's waiting The magic is fading And we only have tonight Don't let it die Yea yea... Don't let it die Bridge Don't let die Don't let die Because the muse is On our side Don't let die Don't let die Don't let die Don't let die Don't let die Don't let die CHORUS: Don't Let it Die Don't Let it Die Ooh ooh ooh ooh Cuz everyone's waiting The magic is fading And we only have tonight Don't let it die Yea yea... NEW ALBUM IN THE MAKING! Thank you so much to Jon Kragh & Matthew Cook for letting us use your mics and The Bayaks at Park Community Church for letting us use the space to record <3 we are so grateful to have your support!! VIDS COMING SOON!
Our first night drum tracking at the Park Community Church went fairly well last night… It took us about 4 hours to get set up, and the whole kit mic’d, and getting sounds right… We started tracking at around 10:30 PM and got 2 songs complete… We started to track “Bird’s Eye View” last, and Mike’s limbs just would not cooperate with his brain, so we decided to wrap and call it a night around 1:30 am, and pick back up this morning. This morning we started around 10:30 AM, and powered through til about 5:00 PM or so. Things went well, no real technical difficulties…There was a cool thunderstorm while we were recording “Awestruck”, so some of the thunder picked up in the mics while we were recording a quieter part toward the end of the song… it was actually quite a nice happy accident, so we will probably be leaving it in… We would also like to give a HUGE thanks to The Bayak Family for letting us use their beautiful space; these drums sound HUGE AND EPIC thanks to the room, and we can’t thank them enough for their support in making our record sound the best it can! Also Pat Bayak for the food, you are really too much!! We really appreciate your hospitality! And Jon Kragh and Matt Cook for letting us borrow your mics… we really got the hookup, so thank you times a million! Drums are now wrapped, and we look forward to the next step, guitars/bass… We’ll keep you in the loop, and hopefully we can have some video footage up soon! We took tons… Thanks again all for your support, CLICK HERE TO SEE MORE PICS FROM OUR DRUM TRACKING SESSION Justina, Avi, Mike, Neil, & Steve We know we’ve been MIA all summer with no shows, but we’ve been keeping focuses and working super hard to tie up our loose ends with the writing of the new material.. and all of our hard work brought us up to this point, because: OFFICIAL PRODUCTION STARTS TODAY FOLKS! Justina, Avi, Mike, Neil, & Steve WHO’S EXCITED!?!? WE ARE, WE ARE!!!!
Here we are, recording some scratch vocals for our new song “Fly”, which was written on guitar by our drummer Mike with Justina’s lyrics & melodies! This is a first for us, and Mike is actually tracking the acoustic guitar for this song as well! Got some vid of that, which we hope to make a nice little “behind the music” vid for you guys soon! We know we’ve been MIA all summer, and for that we apologize… but we have been working pretty hard to tie up some loose ends with the new material, and we are now SET to start recording the beginning of September which is just a couple short weeks away! Jersey Rock-Maria MARBuy your hard copy here for just $2.00 ! Read Maria’s Review of us Here: Maria Mar’s Local Radar: Stelladeora—by Maria Mar, March 19, 2014 Wednesday, we meet again. Yes, it’s halfway to the end of the week, and really far away from Monday, but most importantly, it’s Local Radar Day! I mean, what day isn’t great that we can chat about local music? I’ve been experiencing some really cool new music lately from a ton of good bands, so keep up the good work and keep things fresh! This week, I am going to talk about a band that has been around for a few years, but they are new to me. You may or may not already know them, but either way, I will be sure to fill you in! They go by the name of Stelladeora. What does it mean and where does it come from? I am not exactly sure; I just know I really dig their sound, they’ve got a cool image, and I want to learn more about them! They have talent, style, depth, and I am sure a whole lot more. So, let’s chat about how great they are, pat them on the back a little, give them some praise and put them in the spotlight where they belong. Stelladeora describe themselves as a “punk/indie/rock/progressive” act from South Plainfield, NJ, with members Justina, Avi, Neil and Mike. First off, we have to talk about this genre categorization. It’s compiled with four very distinct and different genres, which can only mean one thing: It’s got something in there for everyone. Sometimes it’s hard to place bands into one category. In fact, when I usually ask that question, artists cringe at it. Why? Because a genre is a label. Just like we don’t like to be tagged in certain groups or have people assume that we are something, it’s the same with bands. In my opinion, it’s the best thing possible to keep it broad, like they are doing here. It also gives you the best chance to grab a listener who may not have “liked” you if you only named one style of music. I found out about Stelladeora from Jersey Rock’s socials, which has been my main hub in discovering music these days, and believe it or not, it was a cover of theirs, not their original tunes, that immediately caught my attention. Ever hear of a little band called Paramore? Well, unless you’ve living under a rock for the past few years, I am sure you have. They recently covered the band’s latest single, “Still Into You,” in an unplugged way. Yes, you guys, I am into you! First of all, I am a fan of the song in its original format, for every time I hear it on the radio I turn it up. But to hear it stripped down and actually analyze the lyrics, with a completely different twist put on it, I fell in love with the song even more. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not getting it tattooed on me or anything along those lines, but it’s really neat. Justina has a great set of vocals that are very diverse in range and extremely powerful. I really think that she could sing “Three Blind Mice” and give me the chills. This song showcases her style completely, hitting every note perfectly. It’s not overdone or forced, and it’s almost as if the song was made for her to sing (sorry if you are reading this, Hayley Williams). They posted this track on their Facebook page, and whether you’re a fan of Paramore or not, I truly feel you will enjoy it. That being said, this song proves that there is a lot of depth to this group that you may not be expecting to hear just by checking out their website. They are a cookie-cutter example of a band that you want to explore from beginning to end. Now, let’s focus on their original songs, for they aren’t a cover band. I started off with a track called “Magnetic Poetry,” which if it isn’t a single, it should be, as it has staying power. The chorus got stuck in my head and this song is probably the one I referred back to most when writing this article. Their sound is hauntingly dark yet very pretty at the same time, if that makes any sense at all. It has some very “rock and roll” moments thanks to those really nice guitar sounds. I am also a fan of “My Mistake,” for I feel the lyrics can be very relatable to the listener in some situation or another. If you are an avid reader of the Radar, you know I am a fan of songs that I can place myself into on a personal level. I must admit, when I read their cited influences—which included Evanescence and Coheed & Cambria—I anticipated them being looped right into that active rock sound, which isn’t a bad thing at all! While they could easily open up a show for those artists, their sound is very intricate. The band’s most recent release, A Dosage From Delusional, contains a lot more depth, emotion and haunting sounds than has hit a “rock album” in a long time. It’s also fantastic that fans can stream the whole disc on their socials, so they can form an opinion and hopefully go see the band live after falling in love! If you’re looking for an enchanting, melodic, meaningful ride through the musical parts of life, centered around a brilliant voice, Stelladeora is the band for you. They’re somewhat refreshing if you’re thirsty for something contrasting yet flattering with heavy guitar riffs and great beats. You can learn more about them athttps://www.facebook.com/Stelladeora, or on Twitter, their official website, and pretty much all over the internet. Again, there is a little something in this group for all to enjoy. Catch them live at a venue near you in the future, and hopefully we will bump into one another. I will be back next week with another hot act; new, old, it doesn’t matter! Same place, same column, I will see you guys then! Keep supporting the local music scene! |
